1. What is the PESEL number?

PESEL number is one of basic regristation system in Poland which contains information about polish citizens and foreigners.

 

2. What do I need a PESEL number for?

A PESEL is necessary for the use of medical services/tax returns (PIT).

 

3. When should I get my PESEL number?

You must get your PESEL number up to 30 days after crossing the border.

 

4. Where can I obtain / get my PESEL number?

At the city or municipality office of the place of residence.

 

5. Is there any fee to obtain a PESEL number?

Getting a PESEL number is free of charge.

 

6. What should I do if I have lost my PESEL number decision?

If you remember your PESEL number, there is no need to receive the decision again.

If you do not remember your PESEL number, take your identity card to any city hall and ask for a duplicate (cost: PLN 17).
